2024-2024 Academic Year
The 2024-2025 Academic Year is made up of 27 private lessons, four regular group lessons and one Christmas mini-recital/group lesson.
*********************************** PRIVATE LESSONS The assigned lesson time is the student's responsibility. He/she should arrive on time with the materials needed for his/her lesson. If a student comes without materials, the lesson time will be spent on the group notebook or other activities as the teacher sees fit. Elementary students receive 30 minute private lessons; secondary students receive 45 or 60 (High School only) minute lessons. Fall 2024 Private Lesson Schedule [Times subject to change] *********************************** GROUP LESSONS are held twice during each Semester with a special Mini-Recital/Group Lesson in December. They provide the time necessary for studying theory, music history and ear training as well as the chance to get to know other members of the Studio. We work on the clues for the annual Mystery Composer Contest, snack, prepare for OMTA Theory Exams, snack some more, play "Composer Go Fish" and generally discover that all my students have at least one "problem" in common as they learn the skills necessary to play the piano. The schedule for Group Week is very different from the Private Lesson Schedule; please mark the schedule on your calendar! Due to the nature of these lessons, a missed Group Lesson will not be made up; however, if you know ahead of time you have a scheduling conflict, please notify me and we will try to place your student in another Group. 2024 Fall Semester Group Week Schedule [Times subject to change depending on flu/covid outbreaks] *********************************** Make-up lesson Policy: Refunds, credits, or make-ups will not be given for lessons or classes missed or canceled by the student. When the student has a school or church conflict, please notify me as soon as possible so arrangements can be made to reschedule the lesson. A minimum of two days notice is required for re-scheduling. If not, missed lessons will be forfeited. If a student does not go to school the day of his/her lesson due to illness, he/she should NOT come to piano lessons! Parents should notify me of the student's illness; there will be two makeup days scheduled during the semester for those missed lessons. High School students who are in Marching Band are responsible for letting me know football games and marching contest conflicts with lessons. A minimum of two days notice is required for re-scheduling. If not, missed lessons will be forfeited. Middle and High School students who participate in the musicals and/or dramas must present the rehearsal schedule to the teacher as soon as possible to facilitate re-assignment of lesson schedules. If not, missed lessons will be forfeited. Students involved in sports should notify me as soon as possible of game/tournament schedules. A minimum of two days notice is required for re-scheduling. If not, missed lessons will be forfeited. Any lessons missed by the teacher will be made-up. |
