Mystery Composer, 2024
This week at Group lessons students received their Mystery Composer packet for John Williams. At Group we watched a video biography, listened to music and discussed assignments.
ELEMENTARY Parents: please take the time with your student to set a schedule for completing their assignments. There is a lot to listen to as well as watch; students will need several sessions to complete this assignment.
Secondary Students: Set a schedule. The calendar is getting crowded with lots of activities so plan your study time accordingly -- make a calendar/chart/or whatever to work through your assignment. You might even go as far as putting reminders in your phone.
The M.C. page with all information you need is at this link: John Williams. Have fun!

2024 NAMTA Mall Marathon
Congratulations go to Eloise Bethel, Violet Bethel, Elise Buyten, Daisy Ishii, Eli Ishii, Ella Ishii, Cora Ivey, Anni Lantagne, Alex Pierson, Caroline Pierson and Alli Reddick. We had so much fun!! Look at the smiles below.
Parents, please send me any pictures you have of your student(s) performing! I really would like them.
2024 OMTA District and State Achievement Auditions
These Achievement Auditions are stricter in both the music assigned and the adjudication process than in NAMTA's Fall Festival. As such, I require that young students must have studied a minimum of two years; music assigned for performance must meet OMTA standards; no music from Method books will be allowed. Music must be memorized. All my students entering OMTA Achievement Auditions take the OMTA Theory test for his/her grade level.

May Studio Recital
We close out the 2024 Spring Semester with one May recital on Sunday afternoon, May 19th at 3:00 p.m.
The past 35 years, the Studio was large enough to schedule at least two recitals (with one notable exception at the Fred Jones Art Museum). As the Studio decreases in size (to gradually prepare for my retirement), I am going back to one recital. PLEASE MARK THIS DATE ON YOUR CALENDAR now. I will no longer have two recitals to switch students. I try to work around students' extra curricular activities throughout the year; I am asking that you work with me to assure your student(s) will be at the recital.

COVID STUDIO PROTOCOL UPDATE
- Masks will now be optional. Parents, please let me know if you still want teacher and student to be masked during lessons.
- ALL students will still use hand sanitizer upon arriving at the Studio.
- If a student has a cough and/or fever, that student should NOT come to his/her lesson. When in doubt, text me; we will decide on the best course of action.
- If a family member or a student has tested positive, I should be contacted immediately. That student will then be taught virtually until either the quarantine is over or the student recovers.
🎵 Happy St. Patrick's Day! 🎵
Remember, according to Studio Policies: Refunds or credits will not be given for lessons or classes missed or canceled by the student. When the student has a conflict, please notify me as soon as possible. Two days prior notice for school events are necessary to qualify for a makeup lesson.
