Happy New Year!
I hope all had a safe and healthy Holiday Season! Our Christmas and New Year's was quiet as the Pullins did not host the cast of many for Christmas as in years past. Thanks to my "training" at hosting various zoom meetings/lessons for the studio, I was at ease in hosting a zoom Christmas for out of town family members. I can't wait to hear about my students' various ways of celebrating this year.
2021 Spring Semester Information/Covid-19
We are deeper in the pandemic than at any time before. If not fighting Covid, some of us are fighting the usual winter colds or even the flu. Remember: the Studio is opening a week later than normal--January 11th. I will still be taking ALL Covid precautions as recommended by the CDC and MTNA (Music Teachers National Assoc.). Therefore:
A ray of hope is the beginning of the Covid-19 vaccination program. Being of a certain age that falls into Stage 2 of vaccination for Cleveland County, Mr. Pullin and I have taken advantage of the opening of Stage 2 and have our appointments for our first dose of the vaccine on Thursday, January 7th; our second dose will be a month later.
OMTA District/State Achievement Auditions
As both president of NAMTA as well as the OMTA Moore-Norman District Achievement Auditions chair, I spent most of Novemenber in more Zoom meetings then I want to count planning for the upcoming Spring 2021 semester. OMTA is holding District and State Achievement Auditions--albeit virtually. This is a disappointment; however, we don't want a repeat of last year when we had to cancel without plans in place to hold it virtually. It will work! It will be different but it will be fun to see our progress. See this link regarding more information.
Christmas Music Returns:
Students, please return any Christmas music of mine at your first in-person lesson the next two weeks. You might double check to make sure your Fall Festival music was also turned in.

Remember: the Studio is opening a week later than normal--January 11th. I will still be taking ALL Covid precautions as recommended by the CDC and MTNA (Music Teachers National Assoc.). Therefore:
- The Studio will (as noted last Thanksgiving) use the same A-B block schedule originally used to start the Fall Semester.
- Students MUST wear a mask for in-person lessons; only 1 other person (parent/caregiver) may attend with the student.
- In person Group Lessons have been cancelled for the Spring Semester. There will be private lessons only.
- There will be mini-group lessons on Zoom to work on OMTA Theory tests for those entered into OMTA District Achievement Auditions.
- NAMTA has moved the annual Mall Marathon from February to June. The date will be a challenge for all of us--students and teacher--but will also be a fun way to get back together, in person, without so many concerns about spreading the virus.
- Currently I have three options for dates of the Studio's Spring Recitals, again depending on Covid. Please check out all the Spring Semester Information here.

Illness: If a student does not go to school the day of his lesson due to illness, he/she should NOT come to piano lesson! Parents should notify me of the student’s illness; there will be two makeup days scheduled during the semester for those missed lessons. Lessons madeup for illnesses will be limited to two a semester.
