OMTA Achievement Auditions
Oklahoma Music Teachers Association District Achievement Auditions
Congratulations to the students listed below who participated Saturday, March 5 in the 2016 OMTA District Achievement Auditions! All students prepared a solo piece to perform memorized before a judge who then made comments and scored each student according to how he/she played. The highest score possible was a I+; the lowest a III. Those students scoring a I-, I, or a I+ qualified for advancing to the State Auditions in May. I'm very pleased to announce all 17 students participating from the Studio have advanced to State!! For everyone to advance after missing a month of lessons while I was out for surgery is a testament to their dedication and hard work. For you parents of those 17 students, thank you for your support and encouragement.
All students performing also took the OMTA Theory test for his/her specific grade level. Taking these tests does take time on the part of the student and the parent who has to wait--thank you parents very much. These tests are graded twice by different teachers; the first took place in individual teachers' homes, the second took place in a group setting. Graded tests were passed out to the students at their private lessons the week after Spring Break.
